Teetotal Challenge 14km

The Big Bush Kākā Challenge 13km emulates the Half in the early stages including the stunning black beech stretch along the Big Bush Ridge.

From there it’s down the flowing Kākā track , across the tussock flats & home.

A current 10km in 1hr 30mins or under is the Qualifier.

Start time - 9:15am

Entry limited to 14yrs and over

Compulsory gear: Long Sleeve Thermal Top, Jacket, Warm Hat, Gloves, Whistle & Survival Blanket.

Due to the extreme weather experienced in the Nelson Lakes area recently, we have had to make significant changes to the original 13km course.

The new Teetotal Challenge 14km is a figure-of-eight course covering almost the whole length of the Teetotal conservation area. Although it has less total elevation gain than the original, it is still a grunty course with an ascending second half and overall a much more technical and narrower track.

The course enjoys mature native beech forest, tight manuka bush and open tussock flats.
